Designing and Constructing Media for Instruction

Technology can be a huge tool in the classroom, especially being in the "digital age", and it is important to learn how to effectively use technology in the classroom to offer quality differential instruction. Using technology can create a more interactive learning experience for the students and can also be a lot of fun!

I created a website, for teacher use, that provides an instructional lesson that integrates technology, science, and social studies under the North Carolina Common Core and Essential Standards for Fifth Grade. The lesson is designed to teach student understanding of weather and its patterns, but is unique, in that, it allows students to view weather patterns through a pioneer's perspective. This connects the seemingly unrelated concepts of weather and western pioneers using a video and SmartBoard lesson I made, a series of open-ended discussion questions, and further instructional activities.
